What Are The Different Types Of Dog Carrier Backpacks?
They are a member of the family and whether you are scampering over rocky hills, streaming along the expressway on motorbike or just ripping through the shopping mall, you want your dog along with you. If you have always wondered how to carry along your "best friend" safely and securely then you should learn about the different styles of a dog carrier backpacks.
Who uses backpack dog carriers?
Don't think that adventurous pet owners are the only ones who can take their animals on their travels. Even if the only journey you ever take is just down the road to the grocery store and the shopping center across the way, you can still use a dog backpack for your favorite pooch! Most dogs love getting out and about and will enjoy their outing with their human partners. Dog carrier backpacks come in either traditional backpack style, or infant-style front carry or the "Crate".
Framed Backpack Dog Carriers
These carriers are designed to carry your buddy in style and in comfort on your back using a pack attached to a sturdy aluminum frame. Some of these dog carrier backpacks that make it relatively easy for you to carry dogs up to 20-25 lbs securely. Because of the frame you must make sure that you pet can fit comfortably in an aluminum dog backpack.
The Soft Side Dog Carrier Backpack
Designed similar to a normal backpack, these do not have as much support as a framed dog carrier. Most have only padded bottoms with vented sides. Because of this, the size of the pet you can comfortably carry is reduced but because of the give and take of soft sides and your dog Rex may have a more comfy riding experience.
While dog carrier backpacks offer hands-free convenience, the problem is that you can't see what your pet is doing. You should look for a carrier that allows you to attach a hook to your dog's harness (don't use an ordinary collar!) This type is not recommended for a very active dog.
Front Carry Dog Backpack
Is not really a "backpack" at all but is similar to the infant-style front position carry alls made popular by busy mothers. The dog carrier is secured with straps on the front torso. This way you can keep your eye on what is going on. But due to the configuration of the dog carrier (it can't carry as much weight as a backpack dog carrier) you may become fatigued quicker.
The "Crate" Dog Backpack
Unlike the other dog carriers and backpacks mentioned above, the "crate" style is actually an enclosed vented soft-sided box-like carrier. It is designed to carry more active pets or ones which are uncomfortable in a more open environment. This backpack dog carrier allows less contact between you and your beloved pet but it also restricts contact between you pet and outside influences, too.
No matter which style of carrier you choose you should always look for a backpack dog carrier that allows your dog to tag along in comfort and safety as well style.
