I had occasion to purchase the Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Camera Sling Pack recently, and I am really impressed with all that this little bag offers. I love that I can wear it slung across my body instead of on my back in a backpack or having all that weight on one shoulder. It is also great that I can just sling it around to the front for quick access and do not need to take the bag off in order to get to my camera to shoot off a few quick snaps.
The fact that I can put my camera into the bag without detaching the lens is one of my favorite features. This allows for quick action, which is great when I am walking in the forest as my wife and I liked to do, and can quickly spring into action when I see an animal or bird, before they can get away.
What You Should Look For
There are a few features that one should look for when looking to purchase a bag in which to store and transport your expensive camera equipment, and from my experience the most important ones are:
- Sufficient space to store the necessary
- Comfort and ease of use
- Protection and Storage
The Case Logic 205 SLR Camera Sling was designed to hold an SLR camera body with standard lens attached. There is also a large compartment with a zip which is great for storing an extra lens or a flash, as well as three smaller zippered pockets in which to store keys, memory cards, USB sticks or any other small items.
One of the features of the sling that I absolutely love is the patent-pending hammock system which suspends your SLR above the bottom of case, as it provides excellent impact protection for my sensitive camera in the event of a bump or my putting the sling down too hard on the ground when I get excited about taking photographs of some beautiful animals or when I am in a hurry of some kind.
Comfort of use and Durability
This SLR sling is a nice lightweight bag which is made from quality materials; the exterior is made from 840D heavy-gauge nylon; there is padded air-mesh on the back panel for breath-ability and optimal comfort.
The Case Logic SLR Camera Sling is designed to be worn cross-body, leaving the hands free, and can be swung forward to lay across your chest for security reasons. This way, you can also gain easy access to your camera without having to take the bag off and place it on the ground, thereby creating easy access for a thief to make off with it.
What Do Others Think?
I am a firm believer in word of mouth when it comes to getting information about items that I am thinking of purchasing, so always try to find out what others who already have the item in question think of it.
Here are a few comments that were made by happy customers:
- “Case Logic must have a great design team that cares. They seem to put a lot of attention on the design that not only looks good, but also very utilitarian. “
- “There is a filter pocket! I love the design team. They were able to squeeze so many features in a compact bag, and all except the side pocket mentioned are readily accessible when you swing the back to the front, without having to take the bag off (which is the shortcoming of a backpack style bag). “
- “I should say that we just got back from a 2 week trip for a destination wedding in Europe and these bags were invaluable. We kept our passport, IDs, cash & cards in the inner pocket behind the tripod strap and had no problem. In busy areas, we just slung them around for a bit more security. They were comfortable to wear the entire trip without a problem and carried all the lenses + flashes + tripod + modifiers we needed for the wedding. “
Are There Customer Complaints?
There are never only good comments made about any item, so I wanted to see what complaints were made too, and was pleasantly surprised to see there were relatively few, which I guess explains the excellent star-rating this sling got.
One chap, who did give it an overall excellent rating, remarked: “Minor gripe. Though Case Logic team deserves the recognition, but I wish the logo can be a little more low profile. The way it is put now, it looks like a camera bag, which is not something I like to flaunt about (i.e., rob me!). ”
Another reviewer mentioned: “I am a relatively paranoid person, and I feel safe putting my camera in this bag as the actual camera holder is well made and seems like it can take a beating, but the stitching of the straps worry me a bit, not too much though. ”
Is There a Warranty?
The Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Camera Sling is backed by a 25 year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
Where Can You Buy the Case Logic SLRC-205 Camera Pack?
Although the Case Logic SLRC-205 SLR Camera Sling is available from various retailers, the excellent price and service offered by Amazon makes it a firm favorite for me and my recommendation is that you also buy your bag from them.
